The Trump administration has put up banners throughout federal web sites blaming Democrats for the federal government shutdown, and in some instances, blatantly campaigning for President Donald Trump. One banner on the US Department of Agriculture’s site says, “The Radical Left Democrats shut down the federal government,” including that “President Trump has made it clear he needs to maintain the federal government open and help those that feed, gas, and dress the American folks.”
Different web sites show comparable messages, with a banner on the Department of the Treasury stating that Democrats have shut down the federal government “within the title of reckless spending and obstructionism.” The White House website equally blames Democrats and features a timer exhibiting how lengthy the shutdown has lasted to date.
On Wednesday morning, the federal authorities shut down after Congress couldn’t attain an settlement on a funding invoice, as Democrats proceed going through Republican pushback on their fight to extend subsidies for the Inexpensive Care Act. Republicans have largely blamed the freeze on Democrats, with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) writing on X that the Democrats “voted” to shut the federal government.
Not all federal businesses show these sorts of messages, as web sites for the Division of State, the Division of Training, and the Federal Communications Fee have a banner that merely states that the websites is not going to be up to date as a result of authorities shutdown.
